Todd Haspect is an experienced and compassionate therapist with over 25 years of expertise in mental health, substance use, and community education. As the founder of Pilot Light Therapy, Todd has created a space where individuals can explore their inner resilience and ignite the light within, even during the most challenging times. His practice is rooted in the belief that every person has the potential to heal and thrive, given the right support and tools.
Todd's professional journey is marked by his commitment to trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and the integration of innovative therapeutic practices, including psychedelic-assisted therapy. He has a rich background in clinical practice, having spent 16 years with Island Health, where he specialized in mental health and substance use treatment, clinical supervision, and change management. His work is characterized by a deep understanding of the human experience, which he approaches with empathy, advanced clinical skills, and a focus on fostering long-term, meaningful connections with his clients.
In addition to his private practice, Todd serves as a Lead Therapist and Facilitator for Roots To Thrive, a community-based program that emphasizes collective healing and resilience through evidence-based practices and group support. His leadership in this role includes facilitating psychedelic-assisted therapy sessions and guiding weekly Communities of Practice, where participants are encouraged to reconnect with their authentic selves in a safe and supportive environment.
Todd holds a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria and is a Registered Clinical Counselor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counselors. He is also certified in MDMA-assisted therapy through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) and has extensive training in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed practice, and client-directed, outcome-informed care.
